Certified sustainability - responsibility for our environment

We take care of the environment in all areas through the sustainable use of our means and resources. We are constantly investing in the optimization of our operations, for example in the reduction of CO2 emissions in recent years. Wherever possible, the various business units use regional suppliers or products.

Energy

The thermal water is collected at a depth of around 390 meters and pumped out of the ground in our facility at a temperature of around 41 degrees.

  • The calcium-sodium-sulphate-chloride water with its special composition and healing power is a great gift from nature and feeds the Aquarena fun and Thermi spa thermal baths as well as the therapy bath at the Im Park private clinic.
  • At a depth of 390 meters, the thermal water, which is approximately 41 degrees, is collected and used geothermally according to the principle of sustainability. The savings from the use of geothermal energy are around 5.5 million kWh/a (equivalent to 550000 liters of heating oil).

Electricity

  • Bad Schinznach AG uses electricity from European hydropower, i.e. 100% of this electricity is generated by hydropower plants in Europe.
  • An energy-saving control program for powerful devices is used during operation.
  • The use of heat-recovering cooling units and ventilation during operation can save approx. 17,000 kWh/a.

Mobility

  • Bad Schinznach AG financially supports the Postbus line to promote travel by public transport.
  • There are two charging stations for electric cars in the parking garage.
  • In the design of the season tickets, the exclusion of the parking garage puts them on an equal footing with public transport use.

Water

  • Water-saving showers have been installed in the various areas wherever possible.
  • The spring and groundwater quality is checked regularly.

Flora & Fauna

  • With a few exceptions, biological agents are used in the park area.
  • Insect-promoting flower strips are sown at various locations.
  • Forest management is based on the permanent forest principle, i.e. all generations of trees can be found in the forest. Deadwood is important for birds and insects.
  • Wood from our own forest is used for the fireplaces in the company, for example in the Thermi spa.
  • The meadows have not been fertilized for 20 years. For the benefit of insects and birds, the meadows are not mowed until after June 15. An eco-strip is left standing when mowing.
  • In total, there are over 500 park and avenue trees and 350 flowering shrubs in the 12-hectare parkland. Every year, over 20,000 plants are grown in the in-house nursery for the various areas on the site. An energy screen is installed in the greenhouse. Even though non-native plants are also grown, transportation routes can be saved, which has an impact on the ecological balance.
